Summary: 2 snowshoers caught, 2 buried, and 1 killed

A large group of hikers and a solo woman snowshoeing near the group were caught in an avalanche Saturday afternoon on Red Mountain in the Snoqualmie backcountry (a few miles east of the Alpental ski area). Uncertain how many were actually caught, but one hiker in the large group was buried and found alive. Members of this group realized the other snowshoer was buried when her dog approached their group. She was eventually found buried 5 feet, alive but in grave condition after a burial of at least 45 minutes. Sadly, she was pronounced dead after the evacuation.
